All advice very welcome,

  • Hi  Are you still on any sort of painkillers? I know codeine can cause constipation. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water too. I’ve also heard that drinking the prune juice warm first thing in a morning can get things moving?

  • Well coffee always gets me going, even decaf. Tea, even tea with caffeine does not have the same effect. I suspect it's something specifically about coffee.

I was about to joke about being like us the states with coffee but wasn't sure that it would be taken as a joke.

  • Hi,  snap! Stool softeners are gentler than laxatives, I was always recommended docusate sodium, dulcoease is a brand name. And I find they still work further down the line. Make sure you drink lots, I know when I haven't!

Perhaps check with your nurse if this would be ok, or maybe laxido. Hope you get some relief soon.

  • Eat dried apricots, eat more fibre and drink lots of water

  • Please check with your surgeon before adding fiber. I was restricted for 6 weeks post surgery. But I think it depends on the type of surgery.
