had part of my colon removed on the 17th April. I was told would probably have loose poo after. However in my case its the opposite Would welcome any advice how to get things going. I came home yesterday. Was told I musnt use laxatives , but I'm gettng uncomfortable. Just using prune juice.
All advice very welcome,
Hi Topcliffe Are you still on any sort of painkillers? I know codeine can cause constipation. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water too. I’ve also heard that drinking the prune juice warm first thing in a morning can get things moving?
Hi, Topcliffe snap! Stool softeners are gentler than laxatives, I was always recommended docusate sodium, dulcoease is a brand name. And I find they still work further down the line. Make sure you drink lots, I know when I haven't!
Perhaps check with your nurse if this would be ok, or maybe laxido. Hope you get some relief soon.
