Hi have been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in December 2024, I'm feeling very lonely as since I was told and decided not to have chemotherapy noone has bothered to ccheckif it has progressed or told me what happens over time.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Without treatment, the disease will get worse. The rate will vary by individual. Your cancer is unique to you but colon cancer is usually slow growing.

If you decided to forego treatment because you thought stage 4 meant hopeless, you may wish to reconsider. I've seen some amazing stories here from others with stage 4 disease. But the ultimate choice is yours.

  • Hi Rumba,

I have stage 4 cancer and after an op, some chemo i am currently on immunotherapy. There are a lot of options to treat stage 4 cancer but if you don't treat it it will spread. Chemotherapy sounds daunting and it is hard but it isn't impossible to get through.

Maybe start with a conversation with your gp and see what they suggest about a follow up conversation with an oncologist.

  • Hi Rumba, I cannot understand why your GP has not been in touch.  Your surgery must have received a letter from the hospital explaining that you refused treatment.  I wonder whether if you got in touch with your surgery and explained the situation, they could send you for a scan to see what it going on.  It sounds as though you need a bit of support at this time knowing what you have been diagnosed with.  Do hope that you have no symptoms, but if you have then you must get in touch with GP.
