Have bowel cancer with spread to the liver. Let me tell you - it’s really been a battle. And the liver feels very inflamed and painful all of the time. It’s much worse in the morning and feels like a stabbing pain - almost like a pricking where the tumour is on the liver. Does anyone have any tips for what to do to manage cancer pain. Is cancer pain normal? I thought the cancer doesn’t cause pain - I thought it was the chemo. Anyone else had pain from cancer itself?

  • I had pain from my tumor. The tumor itself may not hurt but it can press on nerves in other areas causing pain. My pa8n started about 2.5 months prior to diagnosis and was constant by the time we started chemo radiation. The treatment relieved the pain for me.

  • Oh that’s great to hear! Which treatment are you on if you don’t mind me asking? And thank you for your reply x

  • I received chemo radiation (capox) followed by folfox. My last folfox treatment was a little over a year ago.

I had surgery Aug 2024 and am now on surveillance.
