I had a colonoscopy just over three weeks ago. I was wondering how other people got delivered the news of cancer? I just got a call saying I will be having a face to face appointment with the GI surgical consultant just under two weeks time. Does this mean it might be bad news as it’s face to face rather than a letter?
Hi Mama1997 I was told after my colonoscopy that they were 99% sure it was cancer and then had confirmation over the phone from the colorectal support nurse who told me about appointments for scans. Were you not told anything after your colonoscopy? If you have the NHS app or an app for your GP then you could maybe check the biopsy results on there? x
I was told immediately after my Colonoscopy - that there was a 99% certainty that it was cancer, by the man who performed it, who was my surgeon later. I was alone, & recovering from the sedation at the time - so, was not unduly bothered. However, It sank in the next morning. From then, everything happened very quickly, & my bowel resection, was just a month later.
Hi there, I too was told on the day they were pretty sure I had cancer and we all saw the horror on the screen! I was booked in for a CT scan that day, biopsies sent off, then the colorectal nurse phoned 2 weeks later and asked me to go in when it was all confirmed and the consultant officially told me. I had a resection a month later.
Good luck with it x
