Hi all.
so I’m new here. Not currently got a CRC diagnosis but undergoing investigations. (Not even sure if I’m posting in the right place)
im a 35 Female, got children and currently 17 weeks pregnant, about a year ago I had an episode where I went to the toilet and the toilet was full of dark red blood when opening bowels. I thought maybe a hemmeroid had burst , but went to GP and documented it.
since then , iv been suffering with constipation to them having severe diahrea . Some days I’d start normal bit constipation but then have diahrea half way through. I suspected this was down to IBS.
However for the past 6 months in particular iv had excessive mucus in my stool and on wiping. I’m talking ALOT of mucus. Some day clear other days blood in it, I struggle with bad pains after eating in left and right side of tummy, I can even hear it going absolutely crazy. Over the past few weeks my stools have now become erratic and go from a large stool but then the next day a pencil thin stool even though it feels like I’m passing something much bigger,
I decided enough was enough and went to the GP worried as I’m pregnant and things just don’t feel right, they ordered a FIT test immediately and I just got my results Friday, they said my FIT test was positive . I believe 20. And an urgent referral has been made
GP did a examination and no hemmoroids piles could be felt or seen
I feel like I’m over reacting as I know people have a score much higher but I can’t help but worry about my baby and my kids. Am I being silly to worry with a fit score of 20?
worried momma x
Might I add my ferritin is 12 and has been low for two years. No one knows why
Thank you , i think the waiting is so hard , just want my tests over and done with xxx
Hi it's totally normal to be anxious, the waiting is hard. And you are pregnant too so I can see how your mind must be all over.
Things will move quickly and you are on track to get sorted.
A positive FIT just means there is blood but it could be any bowel issue causing it so keep off Google is my advice! My FIT was greater than 1700 but even then the endoscopist said the number alone does not lead to any particular diagnosis so don't fixate on any one thing.
Hope you get a date very soon.
Sending a hug xx
Hi there,
Sounds familiar to me but without the pregnancy part! I wouldn’t say you overreacting at all. If you are concerned about the date for any further investigation then (I know this may sound bad and apologies in advance) but maybe look into having a colonoscopy done privately and results sent back to GP/Hospital referred to, for next investigation step?
I certainly wish I did that instead of going back and forth with my GP and finally getting my appointment for my colonoscopy.
Each case is different and I hope you get seen to quickly and wish you all the best with any ongoing diagnosis!
Coops
Thanks , I don’t have a date as of yet but been told it will be within two weeks . I kinda just want it over and done with now. The wait is hard xx
Yes I think that’s a reasonable suggestion to go private if I don’t hear anything, I had a phone call Monday just been to ask which hospital I’d like to have my tests done at and then they will contact me when they have an appointment for me . But been told that it will be within two weeks,
i feel slightly guilty in the fact iv had some symptoms that should have been a concern but I didn’t act on them.
hoping for good results , but not the prep for the colonoscopy:)
Any news Mommatoacake hope things have progressed for you! thinking of you take care
