Hi there,
I am almost 6 weeks since my anterior resection and all went well. I have recovered well and bowel movements seemed to have settled pretty well. I have been eating normally for the last 2 weeks. However, 10 days I had some slight constipation of sorts, which has led to piles, I have never had them before! I now go to the toilet and pass a stool but then left with the sensation that I haven't finished and need to go again. I am also now going the toilet every hour which is not normal.
I don't know if the pushing feeling is the piles or whether I have some harder stool that I can't pass. I am also getting muscle pain in my thighs when I can't go.
Has anyone else experienced this? I am worried it is something more serious and don't want to do anything that could cause any damage to my reconnected bowel.
Thank you for your reply.
I have been using laxido a couple of times a day. My colorectal nurse suggested that and reducing fibre intake, which I will try. I don't want to take too many laxido's though as the stools I am passing are soft and sometimes loose.
I had a LARs with my Hipec and CRS for ovarian cancer and my bowels still arn't great.
As a vegetarian I have had to reduce the amount of fibre in my diet from what I would normally use and I take 2 laxido at night and 1/2 senacot tablets.
The best thing I found was using senacot liquid from amazon but it's expensive.
One bottle lasts just a week.
When I'm particularly constipated I use one laxido in the morning as well.
The other thing I find effective is around 35g of cooked porridge oats. That seems to give a good type of solid stool, but don't take more than that amount . The rest of my diet is based around white rice, veg curries and veg soup. Also Huel green power forms a normal stool.
Without laxatives I'd go once every 3/4 days and be very bloated and feel ill.
Hope this is useful.
