Haemangiomas

Has anyone else suffered with haemangiomas?

These little vesicles are harmless sacs with a high concentration of blood vessels in them.

I have 2 and my CT scan showed them clearly as grey blobs. The Radiologist measured them they are 1.2cm and 4mm each.

Has anyone else had these and did they turn out to be anything significant?

I am wondering if mine have been classed as benign when in fact they are cancerous nodules in my liver.

Very worried.

If you have this please let me know what treatment was offered.

  • Hi  Yes I have these and they stayed constant throughout my treatment. They are harmless and apparently very common - most people go through life not knowing that they have them unless they have a scan covering the liver. There is no treatment as they are nothing to worry about.

    Hope this helps

  • As long as they are not in fact metastises.

MRI tomorrow which will be able to tell.

    That's why I'm worried.

If they prove to be haemangiomas then I've nothing to worry about.

I'd like to hear from anyone e who's haemangiomas turned out to be cancerous.

  • Sorry  I thought you’d had them confirmed as haemangiomas. Hope the MRI confirms them to be harmless tomorrow x

  • Thanks. Yes I am worried they are something worse.

That's why I asked has anyone had them and later diagnosed as cancers.

  • Hi

Not the same situation but they could tell from the appearance of my mums ct scan she had liver mets . They did not need to clarify .
Despite that they were able to surgically remove them . There is also treatment like radio frequency ablation . Lots of people with liver mets at that size still have treatment options .

Not sure if I have answered your question ?

  • Thank you. That's useful to know if they are cancer.

Will know end of the day.

  • All the best . The liver is such a big organ and in terms of size , they are very small . One of my mums tumours was 5 cm . She had a few others too .

Hope that gives you some reassurance.

  • I'm worried sick.

I said to my friend who's a Radiologist,  this is to check to see if those grey spots are metastases isn't it. She said yes.

  • Honestly so many people with bowel cancer have this done . They like to rule out all these areas to be sure . But it is often a case of ruling out than in . Cysts etc often have a different appearance apparently to mets .
It’s the gold standard of care but it does raise the anxiety levels .

    All the best .
