Hi
Just been told last week that I have a malignant colon cancer affecting my ascending colon picked up from FIT bowel screening.
I thought I had worsening Irritable bowels which I thought was due to food sensitivities & the menopause, but I was wrong…
Some of the posts I have read about right-sided colon cancer (especially for those who had no symptoms) is scary to read.
I don’t have much info about grade/stage yet.
I’m trying to remain measured (which is tough).
Any advice on how to manage the anxious waits…the uncertainty of it all?
Any positive right colon cancer experiences out there?
Thank you for your encouraging & positive post!! I’m so happy to hear that you have successfully completed your treatment, and the regular monitoring is planned!
it is so reassuring to read positive stories!
it must have been really tough especially with your daughter being 1! Aww bless!! I’m SUPER impressed! You’re AMAZING!! Kids can give us so much strength without us even realising it!
My daughter is 21 & my son is 17 - and they have been my little rocks xx
My tumour is 5 cm and I saw it during the colonoscopy and remember asking the Endoscopist “What the hell is THAT??” lol!! I was HIGH on Medazolam at the time!
My first appointment with my Colorectal Surgeon is tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be informed about the extent of the issue. Feeling nervous but I’m ready.
Wish me luck!!
It’s so important to read and really hang on to the positive stories, I read too many negative ones at first and it wasn’t healthy for my mind. At the end of the day we have no choice but to be positive and have all the hope. So must focus on that entirely!
I also have a 21 year old so have both ends of the kid experience!! They def help you through the dark times that’s for sure
Sending all the positive vibes. Make sure you ask all the questions no matter how small or silly they may feel. And trust your doctors. They know best - it’s their job to save you xx
Agree!! The negative posts on this platform really scared me and made me cry! So I stopped reading them. Definitely keeping positive involves tapping into some positive, empowering activities and meeting people who have successfully helped me laugh though what feels like the worst, vomit-inducing rollercoaster ride of my life!
Awesome!!! I said a few choice words at that time, but I didn’t want to add them to my post - lots of F@!#s and S@&!! Ha! Ha! Potty mouth galour, then I proceeded to tell her how the Bowel Prep made me poo like Trevi fountain…or the reverse end from the Exorcist…it was bad! lol!
Hiya Sweetie,
Thank you for your positivity. It really does make a massive difference when I’m sitting here in my dressing gown with a bit of tummy ache trying not to feel scared, and self-pitying and rubbish. You and https://community.macmillan.org.uk/members/sonibee have made me smile tonight.
Man, I’m properly laughing now. I had gas and air and I’m pretty sweary anyway so it was just opening the floodgates for an absolute verbal toilet. I also apparently was hugely sweary when my surgeon came to see me after the operation. The healthcare workers couldn’t wait to tell me about it, but I have absolutely no memory of it at all!!
