Capox Treatment, Raised LFTs - chemo cancelled

Hi, my mum has bowel cancer with liver mets. She has started Capox and was due to have her 3rd cycle today.

The hospital have called to cancel it as they said the LFTs are raised, they did say before the last cycle that they were raised but were happy to continue with the chemo.

I’ve told my mum to see it as a little break from the chemo, but she’s panicking as her LFTs have been consistently raised since her bowel and liver resection in June. The hospital initially put it down to the liver  regenerating but this has been ongoing since June. Has anyone experienced having to pause their treatment due to this?

Also is there any way to lower LFTs?

Thank you x

  • Hi

My mum actually had a liver enzyme that stayed high after her liver resection for over ten years . It became her new norm .
Hopefully a wee break will resolve it back down to the threshold .

  • Thanks   that’s reassuring that it can actually become the new norm.
I’ve noticed my mum has started itching again which I’m assuming is due to the liver, the frustrating thing is there doesn’t seem to be anything we can do to lower the levels, apart from drinking plenty of water.

Hopefully it will resolve itself before the next cycle x
