My husband had his first Folfox chemo cycle on Wednesday and felt fine Thursday. This morning at 5am was nauseous and vomited was also dizzy, headache and feeling weak and very tired. Couldn’t eat or drink as couldn’t keep anything down.
vomited again 6 times and has a migraine.
Hes been on the below drugs since he came home from chemo Wednesday.
Dexamethasone
Ondansetron
Metoclopromide
Has anyone else still had terrible nausea and vomiting even on the anti sickness drugs?
Hi Beanie2024 Please ring his 24 hour help line. Ondansetron tends to be the typical antisickness medication that they give you but if it doesn’t work then there are others to try. I’ve read previously that Emend can be a game changer so don’t let him suffer in silence when there are other options that may help
Hope he finds one that works for him
Take care

Hi Karen

Hi Beanie2024
I have added a link . Please do phone back as they sometimes need to change the medication or the way they give it . With my mum getting it onto her was tricky .
The other aspect is fluid intact and you might want to chat that through with the team as this was a big factor with my mums side effects . She had difficulty taking fluids on board . They had to take her back in and give it through a drip which changed everything .
Our helpline staff would be happy to get one of the nurses to speak with you on .

Hi Karen
Im worried sick about the next chemo as he was so disoriented, sick and couldn’t speak properly he just couldn’t get his words out or think of the word he needed. He didn’t even know what year we were in and couldn’t speak properly. Didn’t know his date of birth etc. is this a known side effect? Has anybody else had this on the last day of the 5FU pump?
Hi Beanie2024 I would definately ring his 24 hour support number or chemo department? As Court says fluid intake is important especially in this warm weather and I’m wondering if he might have a urine infection as that can cause confusion?
Please let us know how you get on?
Take care

Hi Karen
he was fine the day after the pump was removed it was just on day 2 of the pump.
I can see there is a neurological thing called PRES that Folfox can cause.
I will mention to our oncologist next week.
thank you
Amanda
