Hi
my husband got his results today and was told that he had T3 N1 M0
what does that mean in what stage he is?
when I asked they said they wouldn’t know until tumour was removed and histology done.
Any ideas as I think it means stage 3 so worried but it’s not spread outside of bowel wall.
Thanks
Hi Beanie2024 As the consultant says the official staging will be done from the histology report once the tumour has been removed. I’ve attached a good link about staging below. The M1 would point to suspected spread to other organs - is that what you’ve been lead to believe?
Please give the support desk a ring if you need further clarification.
Take care
Karen x
Hi Karen
thank you for your reply I got the N and M the wrong way so it’s N1 and M0.
kind regards
beanie
Beanie2024 I thought you might have! That’s the same staging as I was in 2016 x
Hi Beanie, i am the exact same T3 N1 MO, my tuma 4cm, and 12cm from the anal verge (AV).
I have just started 5 weeks chemo radiotherapy followed by 18 weeks chem, with the view to shrink the tuma before surgery if required, might be a chance it shrinks completely, alternatively it would mean LAR (Surgery), the size of the tuma and distance from AV the makes a difference, if it is say 5cm from AV, this might result in a stoma, full time
I was told the only reason why i was offered the chemo and radiation for 6 months was because i was fit strong and healthy.
Look forward to your reply
regards
Hi Thassos
tganknyou for your reply
His tumour is 5cm x 2.5cm in sigmoid colon.
we see the surgeon next week to discuss.
They think it’s surgery first because it could potentially block the bowel. Chemo after but we don’t know if there will be a temporary stoma.
we will find out next week.
Sending you best wishes on your journey. Hoping all goes well for you x
Hi Cxo
we won’t know until next week but the consultant who told us thinks surgery first then chemo as potential for bowel blockage.
Hi Beanie2024
I found this document really helpful to learn about the pathways and terminology
https://bowelcancerorguk.s3.amazonaws.com/Publications/Bowel_Cancer_UK_Your_Pathway_V10.1.pdf
It was only after my surgery that I learnt about what had penetrated through the sigmoid colon wall.
Hi everyone!! How are you getting on? My husband tumor is T3 N1 M0 were are heading back to the oncologist tomorrow to see if the 5 day radiation and four cycles of capox has made a difference before seeing the surgeon on Wednesday. We are heading for Aper! Fingers crossed
