I am hoping someone can help. Mum was diagnosed early January. Had some colon removed early March. It took time because she has a heart condition so she went to a specialist hospital rather than the local.
At the follow up appointment with the surgeon they said that there had been some stage 3 tumours as well as stage 1. Therefore chemotherapy likely and mum was referred back to the local hospital as that would be more convenient.
Mums referral got lost and after chasing she had an appointment with the original surgeon who hadn’t wanted to operate because of her heart.
He said he wouldn’t do chemo either because of the heart. he didn’t explain much at all and I wasn’t there to help.
I phoned and complained and they have offered an appointment with an oncologist instead tomorrow. It is now 8 weeks after surgery.
I am going along this time. Questions I think we should ask include the staging, tumour growth rate, prognosis, other treatment options etc.
Has anyone had comparable experiences and can add advice or other questions we should ask?
thank you.
