Hi, I hope this is ok to post. I have had 10 abnormal bloods and more recently a positive fit test. Result is 311. Have a colonoscopy and CT scan coming next week. I’m just so worried and wondering if this high result is an indication of high possibility of cancer? Blood in stools, anemia, pain and weight loss.
Hi. So I recently was admitted to hospital with hb of 61 and Iron level of 3. I'd been to the doctor with stomach cramps, nausea and a bit of vomiting. I'd also done a fit test as well as bloods and this has come back as positive with a score of 200. I've had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I've also been on treatment for h pylori which I have completed. The tests were done and apart from gastritis which I'm on imeprozole for and some erythema in my lower bowel there was nothing spotted, including on a CT scan. My doctor has said I now need a capsule endoscopy and I'm awaiting biopsy results on my stomach and colon. It's been a bit of a roller coaster. I've had two bads of blood and two bags of iron transfused and the doctor told me that the melena and level if fit test suggest I had a significant bleed in the bowel. My thoughts are that surely they would have spotted something by now. The not knowing is driving me crazy. Could either h pylori or mild gastritis have caused these results? My aporrite the pasr tear has been none existent. My weight has dropped and there have been a lot of times I struggled to eat. If my stomach was empty it also tended to make me sick. I'm sorry for waffling. Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.
This has got to be very frustrating, I'm sorry.
I don't not have the medical expertise to answer your questions. But from my own experience, the tests aren't perfect and things can be missed sometimes. If your symptoms persist, they need to keep looking until they find out why. I see why you fear cancer, I would too in that situation but there are many possible causes of the bleeding. So try to keep calm (easier said than done!). Waiting is the hardest thing because your mind tends to swirl and stir up every terrible outcome it can imagine.
Hopefully they find the cause of the bleeding and get you a treatment plan soon. I suspect your other symptoms are related to that and will clear up once the underlying cause is being addressed.
