Hello all

I’ve not been on here for a while. I have been focusing on my recovery. So good news my bloods are all good Thumbsup

I returned to work on Monday having taken a year off during my treatment for Bowel Cancer. I am a different person both physically and emotionally. I now have a permanent stoma, which is NOT my friend. I just want to offer support and encouragement to all coming through their treatment. I love my job as a Police Officer, even though I have had to take on a restricted role for the foreseeable, I am back to hopefully making  a difference to others and protecting vulnerable people.

I hope you all keep positive and can return to some sort of normality.

  • Hi Liz,

I hope the return to work goes well.  It is great to hear that there is a return to some kind of normality at the end of the journey for you.  I do hope the stoma settles down.  I’m just about to start 4 cycles of adjuvant chemo but reading your post certainly makes me look forward to getting back to work once I’ve got through these next three months, so thank you for sharing and also a very sincere thank you for the work you do as a Police Officer.

    All The Best,

    Craig

  • Hi Craig

Good luck with your treatment. I hope that you too soon can get back to some normal routine.

I feel so lucky to get to the point where I am now. This time last year I was staring 5 weeks of daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It really was like ground hog day.

I hope you have support around you, I was blessed with support from family, friends and my police family.

    Sending positivity your way.

    Liz
