Hi my husband is just finishing cycle 3 of 4 of Capox he is taking omeprasol antisickness but its not really helping. He has felt progressively more sick and exhausted with each cycle. Has anyone had better results with one of the other antisickness drugs or have any tips in general to feel less awful. We have tried ginger and peppermint tea but nothing really seems to help. He is managing to eat but feels more sick after food.
Thanks
Hi DlFarmgirl I’ve heard that Emend is very good but ‘more expensive’ so not readily offered but it’s worth asking for it. Have a chat with the nurses as sometimes a dose reduction can help too? 3 down and last one to go - well done to your hubby
Take care

Hi I don’t believe that Omeprazole is an anti nausea drug. I have it to reduce stomach acid and stop heart burn rather than sickness. Then have a few different types of anti nausea drugs depending on what my bowel is doing at the time.
I would speak to his specialist nurse or your pharmacist.
Really hope you find something that works for you.
Hi sorry my mistake the antisickness is metaclopromide. Thanks for replying.
Hi DlFarmgirl
Please get your husband to speak to his team and ask for stronger anti sickness. They always start you off with the cheaper one but there are much better anti sickness meds he can take, there's no need to suffer. x
Hi Ali thanks, do you take it for longer than the first 5 days?
Hi, I take it as and when I need it and as many as I need. Tell your nurse you need something better.
Hope this helps.

Hi sorry you have the sickness.I took the medication every day for the 2 weeks on chemo each time (after feeling really bad the first round). It prevented the sickness perfectly.then on the week off I was fine
All the best

Hi I was given metoclopramide in the beginning but it didn’t really help much. I think it must be first line treatment and great if it works for people. I changed to a different antiemetic and it was a game changer.
Try to get your husband to say it’s not working as there are so many other ones available, it’s just a matter of finding the one.
All the best x
