Hi Lisamarie
So pleased to hear you have a curative plan in place . Wondered if you find this post helpful and gives a bit of insight into the robotic process .
Take care ,

I had a robotic assisted emergency surgery on the 13th November 2023. My recovery was 6 weeks but this was a little longer than usual for robotic surgery as I had a large tumour. The worse part was the shoulder pain from the gas straight after surgery but peppermint tea and walking soon resolved it.
any questions then please ask
Rachael

Hi Everyone,
I just thought I would do an update & ask a couple of questions if that's okay
So after being told I had rectal cancer on 29th December & waiting 3 weeks for the scan results etc I was told on Friday that thankfully there is no spread and they think my cancer is a stage 2
I feel very lucky that I seem to of caught this early enough to be offered surgery straight away.
I'm booked in on 31st Jan for a robotic Lower Anterior resection & may or may not need a stoma , all dependant on how the survey goes & may or may not need chemo as its obviously dependent on histology results afterwards
I just wanted to ask as anyone else had robotic assisted surgery?
My consultant seems to feel this is the best option and I'm trusting her expertise.
If anyone could give me any info about this type of surgery/treatment & recovery I would be really grateful
Thanks
Lisa-Marie
