Chemo bite

More chemo questions! Started capox yesterday and I am suffering with chemo bite/first bite syndrome. Doe anyone know how long this lasts, is it just while the oxaliplatin wears off on the whole way through?

Hi BrenW I found it only lasted a couple of days. Try and take a small bite first before tucking in! x

Hi BrenW, do monitor the situation. For many patients the cold sensitivity wears off between cycles. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky and have permanent neuropathy in my fingers and really feel the cold, even having to wear gloves in summer. After some experimenting I have found bamboo cotton gloves are best for me, although this time of year I wear them inside winter gloves.

Hi BrenW, I had my first infusion today, I just ate a munchie, forgetting that the first bite hurts

Hi Rachael,

Hope you are feeling OK? Its a really strange feeling isn't it? I am on day 4 of my first cycle and I am beginning to remember to take small bites but its still there.

Yes, it’s a very strange feeling! It was definitely worse the second time I ate. I hope I get better at remembering to take small bites!
