Hello everyone, I completed my chemoradiotherapy on 5 December and didn't have a period in December, and so far there's no sign of the January one appearing either. I've been feeling a bit strange the last few days, either overwhelmed with little things or just wanting to stare into space, and wondered if I need to consult the specialist nurse team or the doctor about what the lack of menstrual cycle means and what support I might need? Thank you in advance!
Hi Squashable Yes radiotherapy to the pelvic/rectal area can cause early menopause. You could ring your colorectal support nurse for advice or post in the Ask a Nurse page on here?
The support desk is also available if you want to chat to someone about how you’re feeling
Take care
