Hello all,
I will have my 6th round of chemo on the 4th December for bowl cancer, if shrunk enough I will then have surgery, just wondered how long is it usually after the chemo, I am hoping it will be after Christmas.
Thank you
Hi,
I am sorry I don't have all of the answers but we are in a similar situation.
My husband had his last chemo IV on Tuesday he has just over a week left of Chemo tablets.
Next week he has an MRI scan and hopefully everything has gone to plan it has shrunk and he can have surgery to get it removed.
We asked regarding times and they said he won't be in hospital over Christmas (we have booked a few days away)
Unfortunately at the minute he is on antibiotics as he has caught a bad cold and cough which is just what he needed.
I do hope your treatment is going to plan. Take care Kell
I imagine that the timescale varies depending on individual circumstances and priorities. In my case I had 5 weeks chemoradiotherapy, which finished in September 2021, followed by surgery in February 2022. I never chased anybody and let the system take its course. The procedure was successful and the surgical team were delighted to inform me face to face a few weeks later. The significance didn't sink in straight away and I took it for granted that they would succeed as I felt that I had received the best possible service and treatment from an excellent, well-resourced, NHS team. It is difficult to express gratitude other than saying "Thank You".
