I just got a positive fit test result (17.9) and I’m scared my cancer has returned after being cancer free for eight years.
In 2015 I had a right hemicolectomy which at the time got all the cancer and I needed no further treatment. I have recently had a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and I have a lot of discomfort in my tummy and under my ribs, so the nurse gave me a fit test to do and it came back positive. I am now panicking as I’ve been referred under the urgent check rule.
I really don’t want to go through what I went through before, I am also carer to my severely disabled adult son.
I am really worried it’s going to be cancer again.
Hi Wobbly The fear is always there lurking in the far corners of your mind isn’t it? It’s a pretty low reading so hopefully nothing too sinister. It may be that the diabetes has caused some gastrointestinal inflammation so it may be a touch of something like irritable bowel?
The important thing is to get it checked out so hopefully you’ll get an appointment through soon.
Please keep us posted?
Take care

I’m so glad that I read your post karen , my hubby’s fit test came back as 18 , however 12 months ago he had an anal tear, the doc seems to think the blood in the test is from this, fingers crossed, we’re at the hospital this morning for his first consultation, see what happens …he’s also a DLBCL so there’s a worry there that this has raised its head again …than you for helping me x
Oh my days ….so pleased
the consultant said there was nothing to be concerned about AT ALL … he said if he was the GP he would have requested a further fit test , however he understood his concerns re my hubby’s history , the consultant offered hubby a scan, just to rule out but it was his call, so hubby has said yes to this ….all very positive news
we asked how long the scan appointment would take the reply was a short laugh and ….WHEN YOU GET IT
we had no worry’s regarding the consultants expressions, he was very positive and put our minds at rest , and last night …I SLEPT WELL xxx
