Hi guys me again so im starting chemo on monday, going to have my picc line inserted tomorrow im really anxious aboit starting it but also happy its getting underway, they told me they putting a strong dose as they want to chuck what they can at me to get the best possible outcome coz of my age which is fine il do anything if it gives me a better chance. My confusion is i had a letter through the door off my consultant addressed to my doctor, im guessing they send you a duplicate so you know whats said. On the letter it describes my tumor as a T4 which what i have read on here means its grown thrpugh the wall, another thing it said was that its called
'moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of rectum involving the uterus'
does that mean that the cancers spread to my uterus?? Its the 1st time iv been told it and that it was t4 and i only knew because of the letter for my doctor. I am hoping to speak to someone tomorrow whem i go down for my picc line but was hoping someone on here might be able to shed some light untill then :)
Hi Kirsty87
Our helpline would be more than happy to help with understanding the diagnostic terms on 0808 808 0000.
Think it opens until ten pm .
The cell type is pretty common . I will get you some information on it but not something to be unduly concerned about . It’s just a classification from normal cells to abnormal cancer cells .
The thing to remember the treatment is aimed at reducing the tumour and gaining shrinkage for better surgical margins . My mum’s tumours shrank right down . So although the initial image shows infiltration the next scan may show something different and that’s the hope .
It’s so scary reading some of the information even if you have been aware of it . Much worse if you are just discovering it but I am sure the helpline could reassure you .
Take care ,

No one knows how much you as an individual will respond . All they are looking for is the best surgical margins they can get round the area they are removing .
All the very best for your treatment and let the shrinkage begin .
