Hi Everyone
Just got back from the hospital because of being constipated for months, lack of appetite and now dark tarry stools.
Had the CT scan with the doctor saying they have seen lesions on my liver and bowel wall. Reading online, it looks like stage 4.
Really worried, I’ve got four small children and concerned what I’m leaving behind
I know it’s very early, literally hours, but wanted to share my feelings somewhere - trying to stay strong in front of the family
Hi Mundly and a warm welcome to the board. Yes it’s early days and it’s easy to let your thoughts run away with you but try to focus on what you know and don’t go worrying about what you don’t know. You will probably have an MRI or PET scan now to check out the liver - it is prone to cysts called haemangiomas which are harmless and a lot of people have them and are none the wiser unless they have a scan.
Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable and, even if the liver lesions turn out to be something sinister, there are still a lot of treatment options. Don’t try and second guess the staging for now until you have all the facts in place.
We’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery on here and happy to help and support you through yours. The support desk is open every day from 8-8 if you want to chat to someone?
Take care

Hi Mundly
Very unsettling time when you are waiting for more information but the liver actually still has a lot of treatment options should it be cancerous .
My mum has had two liver resections seeing off over ten mets . That was back in 2009 , 2010 and her liver is still clear . Size and location come into play but there are also other treatments like chemo and radio frequency ablation so it’s not a situation without hope .
Please hold onto that until you get more information.
My mum
had 73% of her liver removed . It’s an amazing organ that regenerates
take care ,
