The truth of the matter is you rarely see just the names oncologist. You are more inclined to see the team which can consist of junior Drs , specialist nurses and pharmacists. It can depend which one is running the clinic . Right now my mum is rotating between pharmacy, nurse and a registrar. The consultant has an overview and does a lot of the initial visits and when a clinical decision is needed . It may be different where you are but I would be prepared to see the whole team .
It actually makes it easier if you need to get a hold of someone . A lot of oncology runs to protocol but it’s great to get pharmacy input etc too as it can really help with side effect management too .
