I have a real fear that I may be prone to further cancer, whether it be bowel or some other. The thought just hits me and I get further anxiety which I already suffer with.
Can I discuss this,l find very difficult as people tend to want to tell me their problems rather than listen to me and my feelings. The wife though understanding feels that best way to move forward is too say don't be daft you are not I'll so let's get on.
Thought and probably not fixing feelings of fear and life
Hi Rabbit 55 . It’s a normal reaction and time helps push the anxiety a little bit further back after each clear scan. A lot of people have found this paper helpful?
Please give the support desk a ring and have a chat with them - they are lovely and will listen and help you
Take care

Hello Rabbit 55
I can understand how you feel it’s difficult to share our thoughts with our loved ones
You may find that chatting here is a way to release some of the anxiety
My GP was supportive after my operation and gave me some medication and I’ve had counselling through MacMillan which also gave support when I needed it.
Take care
Ann
Hi Rabbit 55
I understand it’s not always easy to address your own needs especially if you are the person who people normally come to share their issues . I am going to link in a thread as you may relate to some of the original posters discussion .
Taking the time to address your concerns is important going forward . In recognition of this Macmillan has teamed up with Bupa to offer six free counselling sessions. It can be done online I think . The helpline has all the information. 0808 808 0000.
I think it’s perfectly reasonable when you have had a health issue to lose some confidence in your health for a period of time and I can assure you as an ex occupational therapist this is not just with cancer other conditions cause the same issues to surface .
Just for your encouragement though bowel cancer stats on recurrences significantly tail off after two years .
I will link in the thread below .
Take care ,
Court
