Got a call from the hospital yesterday , they are going to scan me on 17th August to see my liver . Pleased because it’s come through quickly but it just adds to my anxiety as well.
I’m really trying to stay positive for my mum’s sake as well as mine.
She’s already lost my brother 10 yrs ago to primary liver cancer, I know that his was totally different . He was only 38 when he died, that does make me more determined to fight this horrible disease as I don’t think she would survive
Has anyone else had their radiotherapy fail and gone on to become ok ?
My mind is going crazy, but I know I’m strong enough to fight this and keep telling myself that this is just a detour to the next level
Hi Armygirl
Although your radiotherapy did not reduce the tumour size it may still technically be operable which is the gold standard .
That’s a question for the surgeons and my mum actually had a combined liver and bowel resection although hers was right side ascending in the colon not a rectal tumour .
Cancer biology is so complex . My mum’s liver tumours grew quicker than her lung tumours which literally took years to grow .
But just because chemo radiation did not work as desired surgery may still be an option unless you have been told otherwise . They like to put all the pieces together from the scans before suggesting what is best .
Take care ,
