Recurring fever with FOLFOX

Hi,

I’ve been living with stage 4 bowel cancer for just over a year a half now as the stubborn mets in my liver won’t die.

For my last 2 rounds of chemo I’ve changed back to FOLFOX as it did a really good job when I started my treatment and I managed to cope with a majority of the side effects.

Since this change back, either just after my treatment or during my treatment I’ve developed a fever leading to lots of blood tests and chest x-rays but they haven’t managed to find the cause of the fever but it has been managed with antibiotics thankfully.

Im just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this or has any advice on the best things to discuss with my doc when I talk to them next Tuesday in relation to this issue.

Thanks

  • Hi

My mum was having some form of issue not specifically a fever but her inflammatory markers were up . To this day I honestly don’t know if it was covid or lung inflammation or an infection but it resulted in a ten day hospital stay with lots of steroids and antibiotics. Again I have no idea which was the culprit or the cure but I am surprised that she is significantly better than the previous months where she was obviously dealing with something .

Are the cultures showing anything ?

  • Hi court,

    Thanks for your reply.

All the sets of cultures that have been taken haven’t shown anything and in general apart from the fever I’ve felt normal.

As you said for your mum, it does feel like there is something lurking in the background and it keeps appearing when I have the chemo. I’m hoping that I can either fight it off or they find the cause as I don’t want to feel like this every two weeks when I have chemo.
