Hi I am very new on this site just reaching out as feeling devastated.
my hubby was diagnosed with a tumour in the bowel 5 May.

currently not on treatments as CT showed possible spread to liver. We have subsequently had a PET and MRI scan and will discuss the results 19th July.

I have seen my husband deteriorate rapidly in the last week he is constantly in pain and not a very good colour and weight loss is awful.
Having a whole week to wait feels like a lifetime and it is very distressing

  • Hi

So sorry to hear about your husband . You are so right . The waiting is extremely hard .
Even although bowel cancer has spread it often can still be treated and stabilise the disease . Everyone is very different but hope you can get some input from his Gp just now on pain relief .
Macmillan has a helpline 0808 808 0000 and would be happy to speak to you over the phone and offer support . This is exactly what they are there for .

You can click on my user name to see how my mum’s condition was managed .

    take care ,

  • I was diagnosed with a similar cancer in early March and am just about to complete 5 out of 6 chemo treatments. It’s not been an easy journey but he will feel better once he’s on a treatment plan and has a goal to aim for. Staying positive is the key, I know it’s easy to say but giving up isn’t an alternative. My family and I use a lot of humour to try and get by, it also seems to encourage conversation so there’s nobody wondering what’s going on. It’s definitely worse for those closest to you than the one going through it, so everyone has a role to play in keeping positive, not just the person diagnosed. Stay strong there’s always hope and treatment theses days is so much better than even a few years ago as medicines advance. X
