Hello,
My mum has had a large bleed from her bowel including clots that look like lumps of liver following a scope last week where scar tissue was removed.
What is the likely cause she has stage 2 rectal cancer received radio therapy in Nov.
I have never seen blood like it.
Can this bleeding be stopped if sow how. What are the most likely causes and what are her chances of making recovery
Hello Jenn1ni
I am sorry that Mum has had such a large bleed. It must have been very frightening for you both.
We are not medically trained on here and can only advise from our own experiences but that amount of blood loss needs to be checked out by a doctor. Have you a phone number for her team that you can call? I would suggest giving them a call and explain what has happened and get some advice.
Jane
I had a colonoscopy which identified my stage 3 rectal cancer during which they took 8 biopsies and following that for a week I had exactly the same! It was pretty scary but I spoke to the colorecta nurse who said that was normal following biopsies. Could you phone your mum’s nurses to ask them? It would have been good to be warned about it in advance however. hope your mum’s treatment has a good outcome soon . Claire
