Hi

any cancer patients  participated in this study called KRYSTAL 10 ? If so , how was your experience?

  • Hi

I have not heard about this but looked up the first part of the reasearch results and it seems encouraging.

Have you started with it ?

My mum is In Cetuximab alone . Seems the side effects in addition are more nausea and sickness .

However it seems to suggest it’s being well tolerated .

Just using Cetuximab on its own my mum has achieved around 50% shrinkage and is better placed than she was six months ago . The worst of the side effects seem to hit on day eight but much easier than chemo .

Hope it goes well for you .

  • Hi

it’s not me , it is my mum who has recently started this treatment and she is having nausea, diarrhoea and feeling really tired. She keeps telling me that she is going to give up, wondering how others managed their side effects?

  • Sorry , I have just looked back and see we communicated in the past .
Has she been given any help managing the diarrhoea? My mum has to go on magnesium supplements as the Cetuximab can deplete it and the result is diarrhoea. However last week she was able to have a chat with the nurse and got so meds and so far this is working this week .

She too gets tired . I do get her out most days as I find it actually helps her energy levels . Also pay close attention to hydration .

Has her team chatted through the side effects ? Not sure what the trial components are or the adagrasib but the Cetuximab seems to have different symptoms each cycle and not accumulating like chemo . Some are bothersome one cycle but receded .

Does she have continuous antibiotics to take ? It’s been a steep learning curve for sure .

  • Hi

I also meant to say has your mum had her electrolytes checked ?

They can get easily knocked off and my mum feels much better once adjusted.

Given it’s a trial I am not sure if dose reduction is possible but when my mum was on chemo a slight reduction actually reduced her symptoms considerably.

How are you coping ? I can get really stressed when she is having bad cycle .

    Take care ,
