Hi all,
The first chemo session done, the staff was great and all went as well as hoped for. I have a slow infusion pump attached to me till sometime tomorrow. managed to eat and sleep ok last night mostly arm ache from the positioning pump found padding the bed with pillows helped.
The worst part is remembering that cold is not my friend, the kids, and my partner thinks the cotton gloves are hysterical but I am loving being waited on as turning on taps is tricky to wash hands.
Stay safe in the heat this weekend I am feeling dehydrated but working on drinking lots this morning.
Strong lady xx
Hi,
I had same first treatment last Friday. Immunotherapy, oxilaplatin, folfox, same home with the pump after infusion in the hospital. Chemo on the Friday pump off on the Monday.
Something strange this time so far I can go into the fridge with no gloves and can drink cool drinks. Could not have done that 10 years ago when I was on it.
Take care️
Cath
that is strange maybe you are just a tough cookie ! the pump is interesting doesn't look like it's doing anything. just had to reduce the dressing over it as I look like a one-armed Popeye and it was annoying me. got some lovely picc covers so look less dramatic
Hi Strong lady
To check you pump is working ok, just open the case back and look through plastic casing. By 1 day it you should clearly see that the balloon is deflating.
My acute oncology team sent photos to help build my knowledge. Let me know if you want me to post them here.
Hi,
Lol I got some pic covers which unfortunately keep rolling down must have fat arms. Don’t know about the tough cookie part I’m just thinking it’s weird. What has happened tho is my face has came out in spots and I look like I’ve just had 20 rounds with Mike Tyson on my lips or surgery they are really swollen lol. Xx
