Hi after 3 years on capecitabine post op where disease in the bowel lining was identifed by surgeon i have been told im being taken off the tablets in case they affecting my health and no guarantee they they preventing my cancers advance, the tablets not really affecting me badly with side effects so question is any opinions on whether or not this the right decision, thanks
Hi Bravedadley. I’m really don’t feel qualified to answer that so maybe try the Ask the Nurse section? Presumably your surgeon feels that the negatives outweigh the effect of being on capecitabine for such a long time? Is there an alternative or just close regular monitoring?
Have you thought about asking for a second opinion from another consultant . Might be interesting to see what their approach is . There is a lot of clinical opinion in this field which may be right for individual consultants but another May be more what you agree with or indeed give you reassurance.
Just a thought but is what I would do .
