I’ve been a member a while and had lots of support from people that have been through the same as me. It gives me strength at times to talk to others going through a cancer diagnosis
The one thing we all have in common no matter what cancer is the scans
Yes we know it the very best thing for us however once we arrive at the hospital all those pre diagnosis fears fly straight back into our heads
So I though a little more light hearted thread on this subject for future reference
What to do to help the anxiety when that appointment approaches for the scan ?
I always plan a treat for afterwards, it’s like a bravery award normally involves a chocolate bar and a glass of something nice
I have my first post treatment colonoscopy on 12 June, not sure what I am dreading the actual colonoscopy or the prep !!! I will go out for a nice dinner to clelbrate getting past another milestone. I am also keeping myself super busy from now until then so I can't dwell on this appt .
Having a cancer diagnosis, you are then signed up for years of follow up tests to make sure you are ok , just have to take one step at a time and I am so grateful to be here
Definitely the prep for me.
I’m not having one. It was meant to be a yearly check that’s Aug 21 op
Ive had a pet scan Feb this year that’ll do for me.
I am having a break
A nice meal outs perfect and keeping busy
Youre right about having the diagnosis makes us feel lucky to be around.
Enjoy this mild weather

My 2 year CT scan is on Tuesday with a genetics thing on Friday. The follow up appointment isn't for 6 weeks though so that will be the stressful time! A big glass of red after both, I think.
Have managed to avoid further colonoscopies since I've kept the stoma. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing tbh.

Two years that’s flown by
I am two years Aug 4th for the LAR then March 7th this year Lobectomy so I will be having one scan for the two cancers starting September
Will definitely get a large bottle of wine with a bar of galaxy my favourite chocolate goes so well with wine
I’ve not been called back for colonoscopy yet it’s nearly two years. I’m not having it even if offered
No more pulling around or preps.xxxx

Ann, I can imagine that you're thoroughly sick of all the prodding, poking and faffing about! Good that they're doing checks for both cancers at the same time though. A bit of joined up thinking there. I hope that you're starting to feel a bit better and you have some nice things planned for the summer ( saw you were in St Ives last week which sounded lovely).
Wine and chocolate - bliss xx
Seems to me that wine and chocolate is the go to favourite
Hi Blue
I insisted on one scan as that’s the best way to go so it’ll be with contrast because that’s what the bowel needs the lung don’t apparently which surprised me
St Ives was lovely really amazing and restorative
Im hoping for Tortworth Court over night soon then Spain July 4th.
Im forgetting anything to do with hospitals until September. Breathing is better the cough is horrendous.
I am convincing self it’s back.
Im that little mole popping my head up hoping the mallet misses me
Whack a mole !
