Hello all,
It's been a while since I've been on here. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer (September 2022) and last time I told you that I needed 25 x chemoradiation treatments which I had over the Christmas period and ended in January 2023. That went exceptionally well with me having a 'good response'
Fast forward to April and I went through surgery (LAR) As the tumor was very low and I had scar tissue from the previous treatment they couldn't reattach the bowel to the anus. As a result I now have a permanent colostomy stoma and bag so I'd like to introduce you to Sesame my new lodger living on my stomach....(called Sesame because my surname is Street!!) we get on very well even though we only know each other a week.
Here's hoping it's a happy lifelong friendship.....
Hugh...

Hi Hugo8
Welcome back and hello Sesame .
It is so lovely to read upbeat messages and your words can't help bu bring smiles. Thank you for posting!
Thanks so much Crumpetsortoast, I see it as a partnership now....we need eachother so we might as well love in harmony!!
Hi Hugo8
Good to hear you are recovering well from your surgery and coping with your new friend. I also have a permanent colostomy, and the stoma group is a great place to ask any questions. I’ve been living with my friend Boris and his companion Donald for over 3 years now and it’s become second nature having them as part of my life. My friend Ann, Artsie even made my avatar for me to remind me!
Sarah xx
Thank you Sarah,
Myself and Sesame went on an important mission today...to the treatment room at our Dr's to get the staples removed...not as painful as I expected. So the healing is progressing well!!
I've just been reading your bio and I now understand the two friends, Boris and Donald!!
That's an amazing story and recover Sarah....
