I had an MRI yesterday, and the radiographer has already sent the report to my consultant! I phoned his secretary, and she’s confirmed that I am on next week’s MDT. Spurred on by this I rang the cancer nurse specialist at the other hospital involved. I will be discussed at their MDT next Friday. The waiting is still going to be difficult, but I couldn’t ask for a speedier response. I feel incredibly lucky.

  • Brilliant   that’s a quick turnaround from the radiologist. Well done them and allowed you the opportunity to catch the next MDT.

The waiting is rotten but well done the staff for getting it going so quickly .

Now to find ways to keep busy .

  • Thanks Court. I’m absolutely amazed at how quickly things are progressing. At this rate I’ll have a treatment plan in place very soon!Grin

  • The waiting is the hardest part so absolutely great when it’s kept as short as possible! I was told my trust was working to a 2 week SLA for each stage, and they really did keep to it. From colonoscopy, there was only 2 days before MRI and CT. And then only a couple of weeks for MDT decision and plan. Fingers crossed!

  • That’s really good to hear. The whole experience of having cancer is stressful enough. When the system works well it helps. The waiting times will never be short enough. It’s good to share our stories when things do follow the guidelines. Fingers crossed for you H78.

  • I was extremely lucky, had a colonoscopy due to a positive FIT test on 5 July 22, then CT and MRI the following week, MDT same week, met with surgeon on 19 July 22, operation to remove tumour on 27 July 22. Even though the wait times were very short, still found it tough. Once I had a plan in place, I felt better. The system worked really well for me and hopefully will for you too. Good luck with your treatment plan

  • You’re right Mel M. The waiting is almost the worst part. This is my third cancer diagnosis, but don’t know what treatment I’ll be offered as I only had my last surgery 7 months ago. Trying  to keep busy so that the time passes as quickly as possible!
