I am due to start my 7th cycle of capecatibine tomorrow Saturday but just discovered my chemist doesn't open until Tuesday which means my chemo break of 7 days will then be 10 days.
I phoned the hospital, they can't help me and just said you have no option but to wait until Tuesday
My daily dose is 2300mg twice a day
I have 500mg tablets which are in date but it would mean taking 2000mg per day instead of 2300. This seems like a better option to me instead of postponing for 3 days
Has anyone found yourself in this position, does extending the chemo break a big deal
Only my opinion but I honestly think a few days longer is not something that would concern me too much . People often have to have an extra week for other reasons and the hospitals are used to that .
I actually thought it did my mum some good and helped her go through all her cycles . A mini respite if you like .
But I do understand your concern . How many cycles are you having ?
Have you phoned the acute oncology emergency number (that's not just for emergencies)? They'll tell you whether or not to take a lower dose or to wait till Tuesday.
