Is a port cath a pic line and pump. That’s what I’m getting in June. 

I knew itv isa pump just wandering about side effects and how people find it 

looks like my spelling has gone a bit dodgy too a ?

Hi Faloola A pic line is usually inserted into the arm whereas a port tends to be in the chest.

So I’m a bit confused my oncologist said my chemo would be with a pump I would go into hospital on a Friday go home with it and 48 hours later the nurse would come into my home and disconnect it then would repeat every two weeks for 6 months. I never asked any questions to he honest . I just assumed it would be administered through a pic line. No idea what the pump looks like,

It goes under the skin on urge chest 3 hours chemo on ward another 15 mins something else then home with another bottle I come home with takes 46 hours then nurse comes to my home and disconnects me 

This is my brother’s pump, his first chemo was yesterday and he has the pump for 46hours  

. 

How is you brother getting on with it ?

I am on fortnightly chemo with 3-3.5hrs of IVs in hospital followed by 46hr on portable chemo pump (looks just like photo Jask posted).

I have a portacath but you can have the same with PICC.

Ok so far I think but it’s only his very first treatment, he was first diagnosed in January. He said he slept ok.
