I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in Sept last year, after various delays I started chemo in Jan - 48 hour infusion every other week. I've done 6 of 12 treatments but a scan shows it is not working as well as hoped so the oncologist now wants to put me on Lonsurf tablets. what can I expect?
on the infusion I knew which would be bad days and could plan ahead - although the bad days were increasing. My side effects weren't too bad..... really worried now as to what lies ahead. also won't have the support of the hospital as I just take the tablets at home.
Hi theatrelady. I’m not sure if anyone on here is currently on Lonsurf but you could try typing it into the search box at the top of the screen and have a look through previous posts? You could also post/search on the bowel cancer uk site? The main comment seems to be tiredness and sickness but I’ve attached a link to the Macmillan page about it below
Hope you’re able to tolerate it well
Take care

Hello theatrelady my husband has been on Lonsurf. Other than tiredness and being put off his food on occasion he didn't really have any other side effects. On previous treatments he had skin problems, his hair went white and thinner, neuropathy and mouth ulcers. So the Lonsurf seemed to be a bit better than some.
Good luck :-)

Thank you for this, it is certainly reassuring. I started the tablets today so fingers crossed ........
