Vertigo

Hi everyone, I had my operation (right hemicolectomy) on 10th Feb.  I am healing well but for just over a week I have had dizziness which the GP has told me this is vertigo.  I just wondered has anyone else had this?  It literally came from nowhere!  Any ideas? Thank you x

  • Hello Blondebanana, scrolling and noticed your post.....I have had breast cancer that's why I'm on the site.   The vertigo got my attention as I have that too....for about 6 weeks now.  I was initially given anti sickness drugs.....they just made me sleepy, then GP tried Epey maneuver...that didn't work for me either and he won't refer me for a vestibular assessment....for months he said, unless I want to pay!?

It does seem to be improving as I don't seem to get it every day now....couple of days dizzy then a couple of days not....  There are various exercises to try on line, I've been trying Cawthorne-Cooksey.....and another one called Brandt....something, forgotten. A least I feel as if I am doing something.    Hope you get your vertigo resolved...and if you do , do let me know!   Good luck

  • Hi Choc Chip

thank you for your reply.  I am feeling much better now I have been doing the Epey maneuver and I have found this helped a lot! I had this for at least 3 weeks but it has got so much better, I only get the odd funny dizzy spell when going to bed which is horrible, but in general, I can do everything at home normally now and drive again, as I was very worried before. very odd indeed! I really hope you can get something to help you! my gp said I could have meds if I wanted but I said I would try myself to deal with it, I have been very luck indeed I think! let me know how you arexx
