  • Hi,

Sorry to hear about your news.

I had stage 3 small bowel cancer right hemi colectomy followed by adjuvant chemo same as you. I had throat spasms and had to wear gloves when touching anything cold. Also could not drink cold drinks.  If outside had to wear a scarf ti cover my mouth for first few days l. If you click on my name you will see my story. Hope this helps.

  • Hi Faloola thankyou for your reply sorry your having a difficult time I have noted down gloves etc thankyou sending love x

  • Hi  . I had this chemo and the same side effects as Faloola. We started the post below which may help?

     Chemo care ! Top Tips:-

There’s lots of side effects but lots of pills and potions to help cope with them. The ‘cold touch’ one is pretty common so yes to gloves for getting things out of the fridge or freezer and keep the mouth covered outside in the cold x

  • Hi,

You’re more than welcome. It honestly wasn’t that bad I remember going to a concert in the secc in Glasgow in between chemo sessions and drinking red wine as it was at room temperature lol.

You will get through the chemo. X

  • I had stage 3 cancer, T3N1MO following a high Anterior resection last July but only had CAPOX for 4 rounds over 12 weeks. I finished chemo just before Xmas, had post treatment scan on 23 January 2023 an post chemo blood test. My oncologist discharged me yesterday to follow the 5 year surveillance path. The chemo was doable and did not impact greatly on my routine. Was able to work, walk the dog and do my normal daily routine. Did feel tired and suffer from mild neuropathy. In reality the thought of chemo was worse than the treatment. Good luck with the treatment xx
