So today I went for a walk, wrapped up warm wore gloves as the Folfox chemo affects my fingers when cold. Oddly whilst walking my eyelids started twitching and I had a job to keep my eyes open! Home now in the warm and eyes are still Twitching, has anyone else experienced this?

  • Hi

I think I remember my mum having that but it’s been so long ago . However it does come up on the boards from time to time . If you use the search function over on Bowelcancer U.K. forum you will find some threads dedicated to the subject .
Has it eased off any ?

  • Hi! I get it when I'm tired or stressed, chemo or no chemo. Last time was when I had just started chemo and it lasted a couple of weeks, during which it would suddenly twitch, quite annoying!

  • Thanks Court I will have a look. It stopped after half an hour if being in the warm, it was the weirdest sensation!

  • I had it a few times on capox.told it might be lack of magnesium in diet.

  • Hi

It could be your eyes are dry because of the chemo, that can cause your eyelids to twitch.  I got Clinitas Soothe Eyedrops from the optician, when I had that recently.  FOLFOX does make you sensitive to cold as you say and it may well be making your eyes dry.

I had problems with my eyes and had uveitis when I had chemo, the oncologist didn’t feel it was connected but the ophthalmologist was sure that the uveitis was caused by the chemo.  It was a different chemo than FOLFOX.  It was only temporary and easily treated with eye drops.
