Last chemo cancelled

My husband had his operation 2 years ago to remove the tumour  for Bowel cancer and chemo afterwards. During a routine check up in the summer we had the devastating news he had secondary cancer on his liver. This has required chemo to try and shrink to hopefully allow an operation to remove. He was scheduled for 8 treatments every two weeks. One treatment was missed due to illness and when in for his treatment yesterday which we thought was the second last they told him it’s his last and his PICC line will be removed on Friday when he goes in for his pump to be taken off. He has CT scan and MRI scan booked and appointment with consultant in 10 days. My worry is why would the last chemo not be done. He was not given (probably didn’t ask) a reason why. Has anyone else experienced this. My mind is working overtime that they think chemo not working.

  • Hi

My mum only ever had six in a row prior to liver surgery .

I would check it’s not an error just to be safe but remember they also check his bloods , tumour markers etc and feel this is a good point to scan .

A quick email to the secretary might do the trick and reduce the anxiety .

  • Thank you. I initially was surprised at the 8 being scheduled and was expecting 6.

His consultant is on holiday the week after we see him and it would have delayed our meeting away into February but I just feel that seems to Be too simple an explanation

My husband won’t let me call. He is happy to wait until scans this Friday and next Monday and then appointment next Friday. That in itself has me anxious as it’s Friday 13th. I am not normally superstitious so don’t know why it’s bothering me so much.
