Hi,

I’m waiting to see the doctor the first week of Jan, I will be having chemo and radiotherapy, I have been told it will be a ‘rough’ few months, I’m sure I will have more information after my appointment but it would help to listen to anyone that can let me know of their experience, so I can be prepared thank you x

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. Good to hear that you have a treatment plan in place - chemoradiotherapy can be very effective at shrinking tumours which allows the surgeon to remove it with clear margins ie. unaffected surrounding area.

Everyone reacts differently to the treatments but I found the chemoradiotherapy to be very doable. The actual zapping of the tumour takes about 10 minutes but there can be a lot of waiting around for the machines so I used to get as early an appointment as possible to minimise any delays. The chemo is a low dosage tablet which enhances the effect of the radiotherapy so you probably won’t get some of the more serious side effects which are encountered with Capox/xelox which is often posted about.

Ive attached a link to a post that we did about radiotherapy which may help but please ask if there’s anything in particular that you’re worried about.

I think Geminipi is about to start chemoradiotherapy on Monday so you could maybe buddy up?
