Routine follow up Scan on Sunday, (after 8 months.) which means a worrying time over Xmas - waiting for results.

However, for all newbies here - the positives are that I have been clear of bowel cancer for 3 years now, & 2 years clear of Lung Mets. also.

I hope that continues, but I am well aware that we are all as good as our last scan.

Best wishes to all those embarking on this hard journey.

Marianne

  • Hi Marine,

I was diagnosed with recurrent bowel cancer stage 4 after 10 years free of disease. Needless to say we all thought I was cured, but the cancer had other ideas. I was diagnosed end August this year. Went back for scan results and told lung mets had only grown 1mm and the sacrum there had been some change in the bone but could be from the 5 day radiation I had beginning of September that’s caused this bone damage. The oncologist advised  it’s hard to tell if radiotherapy has worked or not on my hip.

So I’ve been told there will be no chemo at the moment, will have another scan in 3 months. He said eventually I will require chemo probably a combination through a pump. He never really said what that meant other than it would be 2 weeks on 2 weeks off.

He said once the starts growing it will grow fast. But can’t say when that would be.,

Im just pleased to have Christmas with my family.

  • Good Luck with your scan.
Im not sure it gets easier as for me the scanxiety is always there on appointment day

. But as there’s a disruption with the mail please try and forget any results until way into the new year.
I didn’t think of that when I had my scan 25th November and received a letter 12th December dated 6th.
So please try note to worry and enjoy Christmas

    Xx
