Hi there good afternoon, I am new this forum. I am 48 years old and today has been one of the hardest days of my life. I would love any support encouragement ,advice or experiences. I went in for my first colonoscopy last week to find out I had a 40mm tumor in my sigmoid colon, later to find on a ct scan I have a few spots on my liver, we are doing a pet scan to confirm. I feel nauseous, sick to my stomach feeling like I can’t really function. I would love any advice or help right now and would love to hear your journeys. I am so scared of the unknown and just trying to get through today.
This is a good leaflet to start thinking about moderate activity during treatment .
I will also link in another information leaflet which shows all the treatment options particularly to cover the liver .
There is a lot to process but you will get there on step at a time . Then a routine starts with treatment and gives you a structure to get on top of this .

You will find this covers everything from cell type to treatment options . Gives you reassurance that there are a lot of different options .
Only recently I have seen two different options for treating the liver that I had never heard of before . There is hope .

Court, I just read your bio , wow what a journey you all went through, it gave me so much encouragement and hope so I thank you for that! I feel like everyday is going to be like going to battle until I beat this. Trying to stay positive and focused. I still think I am in a state of shock.
It is a shock and your team will give you a good plan and that’s the important part . My mum talked about listening to her body and if she needed time to rest she did .
Not every day was hard but she found some harder than others and it was knowing how to manage that . Your team will be there to make any necessary adjustments as it’s a marathon not a sprint and they will find the right balances to keep things manageable . The second year of treatment she had a slight dose reduction in her chemotherapy. Not only did that make everything more bearable she still had a good result so always talk to your team .
Mum stayed connected to her life we just got better at making sure it was as safe as can be and covid has us all up to speed with that now .
She set goals for the end of her treatments so she could enjoy them . Went sea kayaking at the start and despite being 80 now she will be back out in August when we take her on holiday . Don’t worry we don’t make her row !
Each day matters .
We have a good thread on chemotherapy but that can wait until you know your plan .
I looked for Hope too and it made the world of a difference. Difficult few years but it improved . Hope it’s the same for you .
Mizzle88 is just a bit further down the road , you might find it good to connect with how she processed the first stage .
Take care ,

Good afternoon! I too am 48 and stage 4 with 3 rather large tumors in my liver - and last week have completed round 4 of chemo. I really do feel for you as it is one of the hardest situations to be in with no real plan of action or information to help you deal with the fear and anxiety you’ll be going through.
I cried a lot and slept loads as it was the only way I could deal with what was happening. Telling the kids was the hardest day of my life and it still hurts me that I had to tell them but as soon as I knew what the plans were I had something to fight with and to tell people.
I made the decision to tell everyone my diagnosis as it helped me deal with it and I was amazed at the support I got when I really needed it the most.
Sorry - pressed too early! Waffling as usual! They moved very quickly on treatment - check out my bio by clicking on my name, and since treatment really feel like things are under control and feel like I’m fighting this thing inside me.
Great advice on here from Star was to take each day as it comes - and if you can’t cope with a day, half a day or even by the hour. Come on here, talk to us who are in exactly the same boat as you and take comfort with us as it really does help. We are all here for you and eachother - feel free to private message too.
There is so much out there for bowel cancer we are lucky - I’m control and contain but I still pray for surgery and cure. please feel free to ask any questions and in my limited rime I’ll do my best to answer. Much love and cuddles to you lou xx
