Hi. My wife is really suffering badly from constipation. She has been given laxatives etc. to help her but they aren't working. She is also in a lot of pain and is frightened that her tumour could burst due to her applying pressure. Anyone else having or have had the same problems and, if so, how did you deal with it?
Thanks
Mr Mac
Hi Mr. Mac. I think you need to ring and speak to someone about this. Can you contact her Colorectal Support Nurse? If she is in a lot of pain and worried that the tumour may burst then you should maybe go to A and E.
The nurses on here are also available 0808 808 00 00 for advice so please speak to someone and see what they advise
Please let us know how she gets on
Take care

I also suffer badly, was prescribed Dioctyl by Oncology Doctor, and they worked after about three days, hydration is extremely important as chemo does cause dehydration, hope this helps, you need to contact the oncology team responsible for your wife, using the 24 hour contact number you should have in her treatment record booklet
Hi Mr Mac
I too struggled with constipation. I was prescribed Laxido daily and it keeps everything flowing. For me it’s the one that’s worked the best. As all the others said hydration is the key. I found drinking Luke warm water easier than cold whilst I was on chemo.
hope your wife feels better soon
