Hi,
Get your pre-chemo blood tests done early if there is a bank holiday!
I thought I should share what happened to me last week, so it doesn’t happen to anyone else. My 4th Capox cycle was due to start on Good Friday, so I had my pre-chemo blood tests done as usual on Wednesday. On Thursday morning the hospital rang me to say that they had to cancel my Friday infusion because the hospital pharmacy had brought forward their deadline for ordering chemo “because of the bank holiday”, and my blood test results were not back in time. The nurse was very apologetic and said it happens every bank holiday and there are always several patients affected. If I’d had my blood tests on Wednesday morning instead of the afternoon, the results would have been on time.
I was really upset, as I was all psyched up for the final cycle on Friday, and now I have to wait another week. I am also cross that no-one told me I should have had the blood tests earlier - especially if it happens every bank holiday! I am trying to be positive - it means I have a week off, pharmacists do need their time off, and there is nothing I can do about it xx
Oh nooooooo
I can only imagine how disappointing that must have been for you after getting psychologically prepared for the final one! As you say on the plus side you have another week off & this will give your body even MORE strength to prepare for the final round...
Could be a blessing in disguise...
All the best of luck for THIS week
Suzy
It's horrid having a delay, my final round has been delayed too, but at least it's because of my blood results not due to not being informed it would be better to have my bloods taken earlier in the day.
I hope you enjoy your unexpected week off, I have certainly enjoyed the Easter break more tha I would have if I'd had my expected infusion.

Hi Suzy Su and Sal,
It was always Christmas for my mum . The system seemed to get squeezed a bit around then . It was a bit frustrating but the second year my mum just went with the flow and enjoyed the extra time !
take care ,
