I had a total pelvic exenteration for bowel cancer in 2016 and had been recovering well (with a colostomy) but now I'm getting chronic pain from obstructions caused by adhesions. I also have a fistula which discharges from the bowel through the anus when pressure builds up from the obstruction. I'm trying to manage this with a low residue diet as the surgeon has recommended although it's not really working that well...
Has anyone had similar problems and could maybe offer some advice?
Thanks.

Hi
My mum had quite a few surgeries and adhesions did present as a bit of a problem a few years after surgery . Even if she went out for a meal and was badly angled at the table seemed to impact them . I don’t actually have any advice but the strange thing it seemed to settle after that point in time and they are not a problem at all now . But we have no idea what changed . She had to eat little and often .
Hopefully others will have some guidance.
