I survived breast cancer in 2016 but unfortunately yesterday got told my back/hip problems are lesions in my pelvis and femur. Secondary bone cancer, I feel like as of yesterday I’ve been given a death sentence.
I have a wonderful family, lovely husband and two beautiful young lady daughters and I’m petrified for them.
I lost my own Mum at an early age to this disease and I was determined they wouldn’t go through what I went through and yet here we are.
i have no idea how bad it is or what treatment (if any) I will be getting, all I know is that no-one wants to see that look on a doctors face when telling them they have cancer.
I spent most of the night googling how long I have left, which in conclusion can be months-years depending on what treatment I will be offered (if any) and how well my cancer reacts to it.
i need to hear some hope, anyone out there in a similar position with a glimmer of hope to offer me would be greatly appreciated
Hi Noodles and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I was treated for breast cancer in 2022. Although there is currently no evidence of disease (NED) the thought that it might come back one day is never far away.
As you've found, the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the secondary breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
