Hello. I'm a 29 year old female. I have symptoms that match those for bone cancer. Most noticeably my ribcage feeling heavily bruised with some bumps. I haven't had any accidents or anything to cause this. I have had costochondritis before so I know it's not that. I went to the doctors the other day to get this investigated. The doctor didn't even physically examine me, she didn't touch my ribcage or any part of my person, didn't listen when I tried to describe how my ribs felt. Her response to me was 'I dont know' then had a glance at my medical record and said 'maybe its acid'. Changed my reflux tablets. How do I get them to actually pay attention and run some tests? I'm not saying I definitely have cancer but I certainly have enough symptoms to be looked at!
Please help. If it is the outcome we all hope it isn't then time is of the essence
Hi Chloe,
My boyfriend had severe pain in his ribs and a lump so went to the doctors and the GP told him it was inflammation of his rib cartilage and was turned away for 1 year and a half (never scanned throughout the process). The only time they took him seriously is when he collapsed at work and was taken to A&E, that’s when he found out he had Ewing’s sarcoma.
i really think you need to go to A&E and demand that they scan you and don’t take no for an answer!! If my boyfriend didn’t collapse that day I dread to think what would of happened as they wouldn’t take him seriously.
Hopefully your absolutely fine and the scan will just give you the reassurance you need but I can understand how frustrating and scary it must be to think there is something wrong and no one is listening xx
Thankyou for answering. I managed to speak to another doctor who again wasnt the best but convinced them to send me for an xray. I went today so now its waiting for the results.
It really gets to me not being listened to. Who knows your own body better than you.
Thankyou for your response, it's certainly made me feel better about digging my heels in. I hope you're bf is doing ok x
