After a long time my husband was diagnosed with non-invasive, but aggressive, bladder cancer. He is having BCG and this week will be the last treatment of the initial 6. He still has a stent in which will be removed at his next cystoscope- supposedly mid April but he has already been told there may be a delay because there is such a backlog! his cancer nurse has given us the proposed schedule for all his treatments but when we asked if we could plan a trip in between treatments we were basically told that we can but then they cannot guarantee the timing of the treatments and she intimated that there could be even more delays From her response it sounds like we have to put our lives on hold until treatment is finished. Surely that is not right - at this time of our lives we need to live and make the most of what we have and it is such a daunting prospect to think our lives should be on hold until treatment.
Hi and welcome, i hope you find the group helpful and supportive to you. I have had bcg x13 now and my cancer nurse appears to be a bit more flexible. maybe its down to the hospital and resources, i may just be very lucky. it may be worth asking again and letting her know how beneficial the break would be. see what she advises. hope it works out for you x
Much love Angela x
